[Weekly Scribbling] Week 10

Where I challenge myself to write at least one micro story/text/something each week.


She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing. Steadying the influx of air coming in and out of her lungs into a deep, slow, regular rhythm. She maintained her concentration for a while, ensuring nothing would alter the pace she had imposed on herself.

She then extended her perception to her heart, letting the drumming sound of its beat amplify in her mind until nothing else existed. Each beat echoed in her soul, her body and outward, pulsing in perfect harmony with the hidden secrets of the world.

The change was minimal at first, but she noticed it nonetheless. A shimmering light at the fringe of her mind. She slowly opened her inner eyes, careful not to disrupt her concentration, to observe the change.

Sparkles of pure energy gathered around her, strays of golden dust swirling around her in  a chaotic yet elegant dance.

She reached out with all the strength of her young mind, soothing her inner voice, reining in her impatience, taming the untamed.

The twirls of energy shone with more intensity as they wrapped themselves around her, feeding her with the power she would need for the trials to come. Her first task was complete.

She had gone a long way but her path had still only just begun…
